Physical Description: Josephine is 5'6" in stocking feet and has a lean body type. She has shoulder length, dark brown hair which falls in loose curls. Her smile is wide and bright and her eyes are a piercing grey.
Personality: Josephine has never had to worry about anything and it simply isn't a word in her vocabulary. She's smart and funny, as little bit quirky (but who isn't?). She has a very come-what-may attitude about life but since her husband left her she has been prone to nostalgic reminiscence and the occassional withdrawal from the social scene.

History:
Josephine Van Horn is the only daughter of wealthy parents and was the heir apparent of the Van Horn Real Estate fortune. She attended Prufrock Preparatory Academy, an all-girls private K-8 middle school, where she was classmates with daughters of some of the most influential residents of New York City, including a princess and three daughters of foreign diplomats. Then she attended Whitestone Academy in Queens where she excelled in languages and literature, though she nearly failed her upper-level math classes. For college she attended Princeton where she majored in French and International Affairs.

Josephine led a typical spoiled rich kid's life. She had everything she asked for, the best schools, many pets growing up, she was well-travelled and also well-liked. She led a charmed life. She drank a little in high school, briefly experimented with alcohol, went to rock concerts and had numerous boyfriends. Her boyfriends weren't disapproved of by her parents as long as they were from well-to-do families.

After college Josephine worked for the French embassy. It was there n 1994 that she met Ike Anwhistle. Ike was a peace activist who had come around to pass out literature. They laid eyes on each other and there was an instant attraction but neither one of them had particularly had the cajones to talk to the other, other than his spiel about peace and her apology that the French embassy couldn't post his fliers. They finally met when Josephine went to one of his peace rallies. They got married after a courtship that lasted only 3 months and an engagement that only lasted for two weeks.

The Van Horns were hugely insulted by Josephine's choice of husband and cut her out of the will, much to the delight of Josephine's cousin Jacob Van Horn. Josephine didn't really care, however, because Ike was more important to her than money (not that she hadn't managed to amass a substantial fortune from stock trading). She fell out with her parents, she knew that they hadn't wanted her to marry someone who wasn't influential, but she'd hoped that they'd change their tune when they saw how much she loved him, alas that wasn't the case.

Josephine had known for some time that she was bisexual but she was married to a man and there was no point in admitting it to the government and being carted away from society.

Josephine and Ike were married for 17 happy years until Ike was in a motorcycle accident. He recovered after three months of hospital care and physical therapy. When he came out of the hospital he had a new outlook on life and he decided that it didn't include Josephine, even if it meant that she took all of her money with her. She was crushed. She also realized then that it was unneccessary and stupid to continue to deny her bisexuality any longer.

Writing Sample

IC Journal Example: I... I... I'm still mad. I still haven't forgiven him. I tried to convince myself that I was alright. I mean, I'm going to recover from this, of course I will, it's just... shit. You know? I miss him, I miss him so much. And I keep thinking to myself, is that the only reason why I came here? Because I'm a spurned woman? I don't think that's the only reason I'm here, I can't deny that it's part of it, but it certainly isn't the only reason.

He wants a change that doesn't include me? Well, I need a change too. I want to get away from my rich parents, my poor husband, I want to stop going to peace rallies to be supportive, I want to be able to be fully honest with myself about who I am and what I want and need.

Oh sure, I sound like another spoiled pretentious jerk who's throwing a tantrum because something didn't work out her way. I'm aware of how I sound, and I'm aware that I'm judged by my economic status... I would like to live without my money because Ike showed me that I didn't need any money to be fulfilled. And now I'm going to have to learn to be fulfilled without Ike.

I can do it.

IC Log Example: Josephine walked into her room and set down her bags. She'd come without her money. of course, but her one weakness had been buying designer clothing, and lots of them. She'd brought her clothing and her laptop. She didn't really consider how she was going to fit in when she came swaggering in wearing Prada and Gucci, etc. Maybe no one would recognize the clothing as designer.

She took her laptop out first and laid it on the bed, then she spent the next 45 minutes arranging her clothes in the bureau and the closet. Then she looked into the suitcase at the couple of remaining items: toothbrush, tooth paste, her wedding ring and a small photo album.

--She was a sucker for punishment. She should have left her ring and the album behind but against her better judgement she'd packed them anyway. But what to do with them now? She took them and shoved them under her blouses in the bureau.

Forgetting Ike? It was going to be a lot harder than she'd first imagined.
